Last of the 2nd Group Licks

by Griff

This one is a little tougher, but your hands and fingers ought to be in better shape now from all that we’ve done.

I remember reading something from a famous bicycle racer once that basically said “Going as hard as you can always hurts the same. Over time, you go faster, but it never gets any easier.”

That’s also very applicable to guitar playing. It might seem like there’s a lot of crazy things that can be done on guitar, and there are. And you might feel like you’ll never be able to do them, but that’s where you are mistaken. You may not be ready now, but with time and practice, those crazy chords and licks will seem just as hard – no easier or harder – than what you’re doing right now.

So let’s learn one last lick from this group -

Hi Griff, really enjoyed all the stuff you put out, you have made it very clear to follow, other stuff i’ve seen lacked this clarity…
Always wanted to learn blues guitar in particular,so have just order ‘unleased’
to get something to work through is much better for me,not just bits ‘n’ pieces of stuff which don’t help you understand the basics of the style.
Look forward to enjoying playing again and with some purpose!
Many thanks Ray(London UK )

Hi Griff,

I have been following your mini lessons here for a while and they are FANTASTIC!! I am now ready to buy but am a struggling beginner that knows most chords (although I cannot play them all well yet), Know the minor & major pentatonic scales fairly well also.
I am looking for the lesson(s) for beginner blues taught in the same style as you teach here. Which one would you recommend.

Keep up the Great Work

Question: When do you know which strum patterns you can use and which chords are appropriate for individual songs? Your lessons are wonderful and so easy to follow. What a great service you are providing. Thank you so much.

Griff, What a wonderful service you are providing. It has really helped me look forward to learning. Your lessons are so basic and easy to understand.

Hey Griff:
I am an old guy (60) whom you have inspired to pick up the guitar after a long time and attempt to learn some lead guitar riffs and some blues guitar. Your lessons are fantastic and much appreciated. I have played accoustic guitar for many years, and know how to finger pick reasonably well, so I do know my way around the basics. I have recently started receiving your lessons and am wondering if I have missed a play along track or tracks to practice with.
Once again, appreciate all you do.

Hi Griff

I just thought that would email you to say, that your freebee online lessons are brilliant!!! I will buy your course shortly, but I don’t really know which one to buy, as I don’t know what stage I am at.
Also, some friends are saying that I should be learning by music and not by tab.

I would appreciate your thoughts on these points.

Many Thanks

Chris from Bury St Edmunds, England.

You are an awesome intructor, BUT, Is there anywhere that can teach me some simple slide licks? ZZ Top would be a good start?!

I do enjoy watching and trying to play along with you Mr. Hamlin…Your videos do occupy my mind for periods of time..I have learned some things I didn’t know I knew from them. I am trying to work it out so that I can purchase your DVD’s and I will figure it out..Meanwhile, thanks for the email and the well thought out lessons….Your a hell of a pitch man as well as a excellent twanger.
